ssh -p 1984 the-netrunner.org a place on the net you reach with ssh, not a browser.
a love letter to william gibson's sprawl, served as a terminal. it is becoming a building game.
a small place on the net you reach with ssh instead of a browser. no accounts, no cookies, no javascript. a deck and a prompt.
it is also a shared world. sector 07 is one map for everyone on it. you stake a block beside a feed, build a rig that turns the feed's noise into constructs, and set a price on what it makes. every night wintermute posts a contract. when the sector meets it together, the sky changes color and the world moves on a phase. what the later phases hold is for the grid to tell you.
nothing is random. rates come from one deterministic sweep, and the rig keeps producing while you are away: the server settles exactly what the elapsed time and your layout imply.

the map is the sector top down. double lines are lit feeds, broken lines are feeds still dark, the red shape is the core where wintermute listens, the green one is the market. arrows walk it. feeds are shared: every tap on a segment gets an equal share of it, so where you settle matters, and so does who settles next to you.

you land on a rig somebody left behind. the panel says what is missing, and the prompt's placeholder is the next thing to type.
letters place nodes on the cell under the cursor, x removes with a full refund, u undoes. a tap drinks from the feed, a filter and a compiler refine what it draws, a vault holds what comes out and offers it, and every node runs hot. once something runs, the flow draws itself between the cells and the panel tells the truth about every node. the first rig that runs is yours to find; near the core, ratz keeps a finished one anyone can open and read.

every quarter hour the sector buys a pool of constructs, more of them at lower prices. every vault offers what it holds at the ask its owner set with price. cheaper asks sell first, equal asks share, what does not sell waits. sell dumps now at half. pricing is a decision every visit, and once you have sold enough, a few small purchases change a rule for good.
